China Southern Power Grid Lancang-Mekong International and Ecorise Solar Sign MOU to Collaborate on Renewable Energy Projects across Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – 16 October 2026 – China Southern Power Grid Lancang-Mekong International Co., Ltd. (“CSG Lancang-Mekong International”), a subsidiary of China Southern Power Grid, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ecorise Solar Sdn Bhd to jointly develop distributed and utility-scale solar photovoltaic projects throughout Malaysia.
Under the agreement, CSG Lancang-Mekong International will act as the strategic investor, providing investment capital to fund the full portfolio of both distributed rooftop solar and large-scale ground-mounted (utility-scale) solar projects developed by Ecorise Solar in Malaysia.
The collaboration covers the end-to-end development of solar assets, including project site assessment, permitting, EPC construction, grid connection, long-term PPA negotiation and asset operation & maintenance. The parties will jointly pursue CRESS (Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme) projects, targeting commercial & industrial consumers, data centres and large manufacturing facilities across Peninsular Malaysia.
Ecorise Solar, a Malaysian renewable energy developer with strong local market expertise, will lead local project development, regulatory liaison, land acquisition and stakeholder engagement. As the strategic investor, CSG Lancang-Mekong International brings global experience in power grid, renewable energy financing and project delivery capability to support the pipeline of solar developments.
Both parties aim to accelerate Malaysia’s renewable energy targets under the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), contributing to the nation’s goal of raising renewable energy capacity to 35% by 2030. The partnership will also explore integrated energy solutions including battery energy storage systems (BESS) alongside solar PV, to meet growing demand from large power consumers such as hyperscale data centres.
